The Andreas Grau and Gotz Schumacher Piano Duo is collaboration of two musical soul mates. In addition to traditional duet compositions, their repertoire includes adaptations and new concertos written at their request by Peter Eotvos, Philippe Manoury, Jan Muller-Wieland, Luca Francesconi, Bernd Richard Deutsch, and Hanspeter Kyburz.
The vast breadth of the duo’s expressiveness and innovative programs have garnered it invitations to various festivals and concert halls, such as Kolner Philharmonie, Berlin Philharmonie, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Tonhalle Zurich, Konzerthaus Vienna, Mozarteum Salzburg, Wigmore Hall London, and De Doelen Rotterdam. The duo gave concerts at festivals in Schleswig-Holstein, La Roque d’Antheron, and Salzburg as well as performances at the Rheingau Music Festival, Klarafestival Brussels, Schwetzinger Festspiele, New Music Zurich, and Cite de la Musique Paris.
The piano duo worked with such renowned conductors as Kent Nagano, Zubin Mehta, Andrey Boreyko, Heinz Holliger, and Michael Gielen. It took part in joint programs with Bavarian, Stuttgart and Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestras, Bavarian State Orchestra, German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and Moscow Chamber Orchestra. The duo’s recordings won awards from Le Monde de la Musique, Diapason and Gramophone (UK).
