Learnt to play violin from Igor Ozim and Ramy Shevelov, leant conducting from Michael Gielen and Peter Eotvos.
A sought-after partner for leading European orchestras including Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO Berlin), the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera Roma, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, the WDR, NDR, SDR, Saarland and Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestras, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de Lille, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg.
He has conducted the world premieres of opera productions at the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Bregenz Festival and Schwetzinger SWR Festival, the Wiener Festwochen (Vienna Festival), the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Bavarian State Opera.
Regularly teaches at international ensemble academies including the London Sinfonietta, the Ulysseus Ensemble at Manifeste Academy in Paris, at Teatro alla Scala Milan and the Lucerne Festival Acadamy. In Porto he founded the Remix Academy for musicians and conductors. Holds numerous awards for 20th century music records including several annual awards by the German Records Critics (Schallplattenkritik), as well as Grand Prix du Disque, nominations for Grammy and ECHO-Klassik award.
