Oliver Zwarg (bass-baritone), Germany

Opernwelt’s Singer of the Year (2007), winner of numerous music awards. Participant of the largest opera festivals in Salzburg, Lucerne, Edinburgh, Ludwigsburg, and Vienna.

Bremen native, graduate of the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart (class of Karl Davis and Julia Hamari). He has appeared as a guest soloist at opera houses in Germany – the Cologne Opera, the Berlin State Opera and the Komische Oper Berlin, theatres in Stuttgart, Dresden, Munich, Hamburg, Darmstadt, and Chemnitz. He sang on foreign stages: in Barcelona, Madrid, Copenhagen, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lille, Lausanne, Liege, and Amsterdam.

Having become famous in the role of Alberich (Das Rheinegold by Richard Wagner), he was invited to play this role at the Shanghai Expo in 2010. His repertoire includes leading roles in operas by Strauss, Wagner, Mozart, Verdi, Debussy, Berg, as well as concert repertoire from the Renaissance to the present day.

Oliver Zwarg performs with the renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Marco Armiliato, Lothar Zagrosek, Ingo Metzmacher, Markus Stenz, Paul McCreesh, and Frank Berman. He works with stage directors such as Calixto Bieito, Claus Guth, Michael Hampe, Stefan Herheim, Peter Konwitschny, Nikolaus Lehnhoff, Robert Carsen, Achim Freyer and Jossi Wieler.
