The soloist of the Vienna Volksoper. He made guest appearances at Vienna State opera, Zurich Opera, Opéra de Nancy, theatres of Wiesbaden, Rome, Brussels, Tokyo, Stuttgart, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Bavarian and Hamburg State Operas, as well at at the Milano La Scala where he sang under Riccardo Muti, and at Washington Opera, on the invitation of Plácido Domingo.
Ferdinand von Bothmer was born in Munich. He studied music theatre direction and vocals the Vienna Musikhochschule – with Nicolai Gedda, Michael Pabst and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He has a rich repertoire and has presented recitals of vocal works by Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Liszt, Strauss and Rachmaninov all over Germany.
Participant of the Ludwigsburg Festival, Salzburg Festival and the La Coruña Mozart Festival, where he appeared on the invitation of Alberto Zedda. At the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, he sang Cavaliere Belfiore in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, and the title role of Rossini’s Otello.
Particularly significant for the singer have been the roles in Mozart’s operas: The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Idomeneo, and the Mercy of Titus. In addition, Ferdinand Von Bothmer plays the roles of Count Almaviva (The Barber of Seville by Rossini), Leopold (La Juive by Halévy), Erik (The Flying Dutchman by Wagner), Max (The Freeshooter by Weber), Jacquino (Fidelio by Beethoven), Jason (Medea in Corinth by Mayr). The singer also pays attention to the genre of operetta, playing the roles of Edwin (The Gypsy Princess by Kalman), Count Zedlau (Vienna Blood by Strauss), Alfred (The Bat by Strauss), Simon (The Beggar Student by Millöcker).
