Joachim Höchbauer (bass), Germany

 

Joachim Höchbauer acquired his basic musical education in his hometown of Regensburg as a Member of the Regensburger Domspatzen (Regensburg Cathedral Choir). He graduated from the University for Music and Performing Arts, Munich, and completed postgraduate studies at the Cologne University of Music. He polished his skills at the master classes under Prof. Konrad Jarnot and Prof. Wolfram Rieger.

For many years, he has been a member of the Collegium Vocale Gent under Philippe Herreweghe. Joachim Höchbauer is performing as a soloist at the Essen Philharmonic, the Ruhrfestspielhaus Recklinghausen, Musiktheater Gelsenkirchen and Konzerthaus Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Minsk Philharmonic, musical theaters of Gelsenkirchen, Lille, Ghent. He gives concerts in Russia, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Portugal, USA, Israel, Hong Kong, Norway, and Tunisia.

He regularly performs at the international festivals at Lake Constance, Heidelberg Spring Festival, European Weeks Festival in Passau, Rheingau Music Festival, Regensburg Early Music Days Festival, Ruhrtriennale in Bochum, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Young Euro Classic in Beijing and Shanghai, early music festivals in Stockholm, Basel and Utrecht, Resonance in Vienna, Tirol Festival Erl, Wratislavia Cantans, and Festival d’Avignon.

Mr. Höchbauer has performed the leading roles in productions of Wagner’s Der Kobold and Der Heidenkönig at the Stadttheater Fürth, in a play to music by Monteverdi at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, in Cherubini’s Two Days, or Water Carrier at the BeethovenFest Bonn, in Susanna oratorio by Handel at the Stadttheater Koblenz, the Mass in B-Minor by J.S. Bach in Breslau, Opole and Krakow, Donner in Wagner’s Das Rhinegold at the Kulturwald Music Festival in Bavaria.
