Description
At the conductor's desk of the Ural Symphony Youth Orchestra is one of the most sought-after young British conductors - Oliver Zeffman. He assisted the great maestros, and now he conducts the London Chamber Orchestra. He gets invited to new productions of the Mariinsky Theater, to prestigious European festivals and he speaks excellent Russian! Oliver Zeffman’s Eurasian program includes the orchestral landscapes of Takemitsu and Debussy, inspired by the aesthetics of the Japanese garden and poetry of the Symbolists, a Cello Concerto of the “English Beethoven” Elgar - with another young star of British classical scene, cellist Laura van der Heijden, and Bartok’s expressive proof that passion is stronger than death.
The concert program
- Debussy. Prélude À L'après-Midi D'un Faune
- Elgar. Cello Concerto
- Takemitsu. A Flock Descends Into The Pentagonal Garden
- Bartok. The Miraculous Mandarin Suite
The event is part of the UK-Russia Year of Music 2019 program conducted by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow with the support of the British Council.
