Weekly discussions of Myaskovsky legacy with artists, musicologists, cultural leaders and music lovers.

From February 5 to March 5 on the eve of Myaskovsky. Dialogues Project, the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic is initiating a public discussion of Myaskovsky phenomenon. Each Friday, performers and composers, historians and music critics, journalists and cultural experts will share their thoughts, experience and ideas regarding Nikolai Myaskovsky’s music, personality, and historic context.

The form of dialogue is not random. The composer’s diary was lost, but his correspondence with contemporaries and friends, including Sergei Prokofiev and music critic Boris Asafiev has been preserved. Their "dialogues" lasted for over forty years and count to over 900 letters, kept in museums and archives, and serving a source of inspiration and historical truth.

Friday Dialogues will kick off with the conversation between cellist and conductor Alexander Rudin and Sverdlovsk Philharmonic’s Vice CEO Rustem Khasanov. Maestro Rudin and Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra’s recording of Myaskovsky's Symphonies nos. 1 and 13 was released by Naxos in 2019 and received an ICMA nomination in 2020. Alexander Rudin has been UYSO’s Principal Guest Conductor since 2014.
